So i would save your money for a while and get a b16, and for a little more you could get a b18c which would be fun. or another option is turbo a b18b which wouldnt be to expensive either. that is just my opinion and maybe you have a different idea, but that is what i would do.
yeah but how many of you monkeys on this board that get a B16 ever actually do anything past boltons and maybe cams?

Yeah lets see...2500 for a B16, a grand for boltons and 400 for cams plus labor=150-160 whp

500 dollar D16 swap, 1500 dollar greddy turbo @ 8 psi=170 whp on low boost and 60 more pounds of torque to the ground, and a MUCH better power curve, hrmm i wonder which is a better idea?

If you're gonna swap go B18B1 and turbo otherwise buy a D16 and boost it. IMO the best thing is to get a D16 and turbo it, that way you can learn the basics about boost and if you wanna go crazy an blow it up it's cheap. After you get situatated with boost then swap a LS turbo. If you start with a good turbo you just have to replace the manifold when you swap over.

Wow the best answer I have gotten in a while ! If everyone who answer like that my life would be good ! Thanks man I wish you where a local guy to help me out !

Now noone has answered another question of mine . That galant vr4 turbo "stock" They tell me the manifold will fit my civic or a d16 motor . True or false and if true can I use it ?

I'm pretty sure the VR4 manifold won't work on your car, it'd be a freak accident if the manifold bolt patterns and everything lined up to your head corrrectly.

If you want to do a cheap junkyard setup you can use a HF manifold (i think 88-90 CRX) and bolt on a T25 turbo from an eclipse. This would be a cheap route to play with for a first setup but if you want to do it right and have a kit you'll keep for a while just get a greddy/apexi kit for cheap or piece one together.

For a beginner i'd suggest the greddy or apex kit, they are both fairly complete and easy to install. Good luck.

Lol, you're kidding right? A b16 with cams (depending on the cams) will make a lot more than 150-160whp. More like high 170's-180whp.

I say get the D16z6 and turbo it instead of the B series swap. It will be a lot cheaper and can put up better numbers than most B series swaps can. I have a z6 in my civic right now and plan to turbo it soon. A lot of people on this board have done really well with a turbo D series. Swap to a manual z6 and turbo it. Sure a B series has more potential in the long run but will cost more and if you don't want to build to the max, a turbo D16 can put out plenty of power.

Also, I've never heard of a VR4 manifold on a Civic The TURBO off of the VR4 would work but not the actual manifold. But I agree with Jkan, get a complete kit, they are much easier to install for a beginner and you don't have to worry about what will fit with what.

Can't wait to see how this all turns out:thumbup:

I doubt a 99-00 SI with i/h/e/some itr/ctr cams would make anything over 160 whp. They make like 130-135 stock and unless you have some crazy toda spec A cams with a head that revs to 9 grand i don't think you're ever gonna make any crazy power.

maybe a GSR with cams and itr/ctr pistons will make 180 whp but it's still 130 wtq h:

I love my z6 engine i just swapped it into my cx and it is way quicker... not fast but quicker. Now I have to start piecing together a home made turbo kit so me and my step dad can put it together. He has an 84 Buick Regal T-Type that he has upgraded and said that he will help me with the turbo on my civic. Pretty funny he is a really big GM fan and I let him ride in my civic last time I was home and suddenly every time I talk to him he wants to talk about my Civic. Just funny in my opinion.
