If you are going to sell it, I don't suggest you work on it before. I'd just sell it now and get a 5 speed if that's what you want.

$6600 TurboLS on stock internals. Not so cheap now is it?
$600 for parts?!?! Just find an obd1 b18a/b and drop it in. The ls swap is the most straight forward b series swap in an eg ever.

The rev hard kit comes with a simple fmu which will allow him to bolt on the kit and use. He can run the kit fine without hondata until he decides to upgrade it.

Why would you have a noob to turbo buy hondata 4b? He will never use half the shit on there. He can get just a basic s100 with boost option.

What will he spend $1000 on?!?

The total cost of my old setup with hatch was around $7500. Add another $700 for getting hondata and injectors.

Go for the ls turbo setup, it may cost more than a d series turbo but it will make greater power and be more enjoyable in the long run.

The numbers I gave him are from personal experience. Things I did to my car.

$600=
radiator, hoses, water pump, timing belt tensioner, fluids, filters, plugs, plug wires (hmotors startup warranty and piece of mind) okay the radiator isn't but it's worth it to upgrade it you are going to run boost.

The reason I chose to go 4b is to be able to burn my own roms as there is no one here (nebraska) that can do it for me.

$1000=
Injectors, turbo timer, clutch

But for the kid to have a BASIC setup it wouldnt cost that much. Just getting the motor in and turbocharged is piece of mind.

Why did you upgrade and spend $7K+ then? For piece of mind and to fully extrapalate the power of the turbols. It's one thing to slap a turbo on and call it good, and it's a whole other thing to maximize gains and try to remain reliable.

Yes but he can get everything and have it on then he can upgrade. Its good to know that you have it even if its not at its best. For example i have recaro seats but no rails and sliders. I am just happy to have them and know later i can put them in the car.

b18b is the ls non vtec that can be picked up for about the same as the b16. the b18b has lower compression so it would be better for a turbo. you can get turbos off of ebay for about 2700 bux for a greddy or revhard which are both pretty good, though the greddy kit does not have an intercooler which can be picked up for about 400 used or 750 brand spanking new.
