Dealer? $750 sounds.... about right.... in Atlanta anyways.
Somewhere else? Not sure... good luck tho... u can save yourself some loot by changing stuff out yourself, like plugs, filters, wires, fluids... but I wouldnt touch the Timing Belt/Water Pump - I'm too damn novice

Good luck.

PS - Found some receipts....
Timing Belt/Water Pump = $435 (this includes coolant change)
Tune Up (includes lots stuff) = $325 (this invoice conveniently lacks detail on that part ....)

I'm kinda skeptical over dealers.... that's why I bought the book
on the Del Sol
I'ma do it myself next time.

and $4 for a front left fog light

Wheee haaa!!

DIY cost?

Timing belt + water pump + coolant = ~$80
Tune up (plugs, wires, oil, filter, belts, rotate your own frickin tires, hell even bleed your brakes and wash the thing while you're at it) ~$50-75

And then $620 for nachos.

Yikes! That much!? My car had 73066 on the odo when I got it so I sent it in for its 75k service, and that only cost me $210...and $100 of that was fixing a damaged window track. I just had the 82.5k service performed and that was $160.

BTW, Doc, you'll prolly know the answer to this:
Ok think of someone just learning to drive a manual...they can't balance the clutch and gas yet, so as they are trying to get it right, the engine revs dangerously low, around 300rpm, and starts shaking/rumbling like a bull. Now take that sound/vibration, and apply it to revs between a .7k idle and 1.5k...that's what my car is doing. In any gear, it shakes like no other in those revs. I told them about it when I sent my car in for its 82500 service, but they gave it back saying they couldn't even duplicate the symptoms, but that they "tightened anything near my linkage and transmission, including heat shields." The problem persists.

Do you think a motor mount could be loose? Exhaust pipe rattling maybe? Hell if I know. It's a pretty much stock D16Y8.

So it shakes like that in gear, and not just at idle? If it shakes in neutral, it could be any number of easy fixes, from dirty TB to clogged air filter... but if it shakes in gear at those RPMs, it may unfortunately be something more serious.

I'm a keep-it-simple-stupid kinda guy-- check the simplest things first: air filter, spark plugs, cap and rotor-- lose a notch inside the dizzy cap and get shitty spark at low RPM, but pick it up above 1500rpm, and you think you're running fine-- shit like that happens to me all the time. Check belt tensions, etc. Don't go running off to the bastard mechanics until you've eliminated all other options... After all, a few hours with a wrench and screwdriver in your hands are basically free...

What's my life with Sol like? My neg battery terminals keep corroding, so the damn thing won't turn over, so I have to get a jump, and when I get the car home, I wiggle the terminal and everything works again... Now I just keep a wrench to whack the damn thing with. See how it's the little things that kill?

Well it's not an easy problem to describe...

Lemme put it this way. The engine isn't bogged down or anything, in fact it runs beautifully. It just shakes like hell at low RPMs...it sounds like something is loose. Plus I can feel the abnormal vibration in the clutch pedal.

Motor mount was a good guess. Transmission mount might be another.

Something likes to vibrate at those specific fequencies... the hard part is figuring out what. If you have ramps or a lift, you might get underneath and have something very slowly raise the throttle for you to see if anything changes underneath.

I don't understand how mechanics can't duplicate things like this...!?

Mine does that too . Actually it does it less now after I changed the spark plugs, wires, and air filter. Now my engine is a lot quiter and less harsh. Mine felt like the engine was jumping around under the hood. I was told that the clutch pressure plate was warped, so I took it to this place to have it checked out and they couldn't duplicate it. I think also my motor mounts are bad. Cars are so scared to go to the doctor so they're on their best behavior when you have 'em checked out.
