Suspension...
Ok, I must admit...all the car knowledge I have, I don't have crap on suspension. I got a 93 del sol S, and I want to lower it. Now, my question is this. How far can I lower it without haveing to do any major changes. Such as cambers (sp?) and what not. And I also would like to have a some what comfy ride. I know these two things don't go together, but I figured I would ask. How much am I looking to spend here? Any help guys would rock!!

Yeah, sportlines are almost perfect for what you want. They don't handle the best, but it's a good improvement over stock. About a 1.5" drop, and the camber is still within stock acceptable specs. ends up making about a 1.5 finger gap with the fenders. I've got em on my hatch with Tokico blues, and it rides fine. Yeah, I hate tokico blues, but they came on the car, so I'm gonna leave em til they blow. And knowing me, they WILL blow.

so with the sportlines, will have need to change shocks or anything, or just need to change the springs? I am dumb in the language of suspension. Also, can someone link me to what I will need? Thanks people...

i think the stock struts will be fine for a little while, but eventually will have to replace them if you lower your car

yeah, if you get tokicos, expect to LOVE them for a week, think they're ok after they break in, and hate them after a month. You'll want to spend a little more to be happy in the long run. If you're just going with sportlines, or the neuspeed sports, you should be fine with stock shocks for at least a few months. SOme people run stocks and get away with them for years. Blows my mind, since I blew through 3 sets of tokico blues in under 2 years.

so should I go with the sportsline or neuspeed? What kind of costs am I looking at? I am looking for looks more than performance. And want the cheapest route available. How much are shocks if I need them? Again, need a comfy ride, than better performance, but want it to ride low.

Anyway, if you just want a nice even ride, I'd go with the Eibach sportlines, the Neuspeed Sports, or another option is Aerospeed coilovers. Everyone saysw they suck, but that's because they're expecting mad performance out of them. They have a spring rate that is slightly above stock, and they are adjustable, so it's a nice smooth ride, but just a little better performing than stock. And yes, if you're just lowering it 1.5 to 2 inches, the shocks should be safe for at least a few months. You won't get mad props if you tell people what you're running, but it sounds they would fit your needs perfectly. For any of the 3 choices, you can expect to spend anywhere from 100 to 200.

how much would a new set of shocks set me back as well. I figure if I am going to have to change them out in a few months, then I should probably do it while I have the springs off. I have never changed shocks, but I have springs? Are shocks that much harder?
Also, here is a stupid question. how will I know when a shock is blown. Here is what I am thinking...I can test my luck and get a set of springs and see if the stock shocks will hold for a few years. What are the chances of that?
